TA members warned to expect call-up

JERSEY Field Squadron members are being warned they could be called up to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan next year.

In May the UK takes responsibility for the control of Afghanistan from the US and reservists will be called up to either help in Afghanistan or to provide cover in Iraq for those sent to the Asian country.

Next month the UK Ministry of Defence is expected to announce plans to call up 1,000 reservists from territorial armies around the British Isles and members of the Jersey Field Squadron are expected to be involved.
