Police investigate bogus calls against wholesaler

A FRUIT and vegetable seller has become the victim of a dirty tricks campaign – the day after being given a Pat on the Back award by the JEP Fair Play team for offering the best-value Christmas trees.

A bogus caller has been ringing up top Island hotels saying that produce supplied by Alan Martin Wholesale Ltd is dangerous and should not be served at any cost.

Rachel Reed, the proprietor of the St Ouen business, believes that spiteful and bitter rivals are behind the desperate plot to blacken her businesses name after the publicity in the paper.

The police confirmed this morning that they are investigating the matter.
