Transport Minister wants late-night buses for drinkers
Thursday 15th December 2005, 12:00AM GMT.
TOWN revellers could soon be able to get home on late-night buses if new Transport Minister Guy de Faye can reach a deal with Connex.
Talks were being held yesterday afternoon aimed at securing buses that run as late as 1.30 am.
And if a decision is made to start late-night services, then almost certainly security staff will be on the buses to give protection to drivers from abuse from unruly passengers.
Deputy de Faye said that 1.30 am had been deliberately chosen as the latest departure time in order to encourage nightclub goers to leave St Helier earlier, rather than have them hanging on until closing time about an hour later.
