JERSEY’S oldest surfer this week celebrated his 101st birthday in Australia.

Fortunately, Philip Potier does not have to worry about shark attacks, as he does his surfing on the internet from the comfort of his Sydney home.

Mr Potier, who emigrated from Jersey 19 years ago, is an avid online reader of the Jersey Evening Post, as his daughter, Berna Fontaine, explained.

‘He reads it every day and complains, especially about all the roadworks,’ she said.

When not catching up on the news from home, Mr Potier spends his time playing dominoes, cards and pétanque.
