Man needs surgery after being glassed

A MAN who was glassed in the early hours of yesterday morning is expected to need surgery as a result of the injuries caused to his face.
The 29-year-old man, who was wearing a light jacket and jeans, was standing in the main bar area of Pure nightclub when he was approached by his attacker, a man believed to be in his early 20s, wearing a dark-coloured top with cropped fair hair.
The younger man attacked the victim with a glass, causing serious injuries to the his face, before attempting to flee from the premises.
However, door staff were able to detain him until the police arrived.
Following the assault, which occurred some time between 12.15 and 12.25 am, the victim was taken to hospital, where he was kept overnight.
