Positive response to Center Parcs proposal

THE decision by Center Parcs to commit to running a complex on the St Helier waterfront has been greeted with enthusiasm by the association that represents the Island’s hospitality industry.

Center Parcs has signed an agreement to run 70 luxury apartments and a leisure complex with companies owned by David Crossland and his wife, Anne.

If all goes to plan, the £55m development, which will also include 90 private apartments, should open in the summer of 2008.

Center Parcs has agreed to invest about £2m in fitting out the leisure facilities.

The president of the Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA), Robyn Lapidus, said this was very good news.

‘The JHA supports the concept of this type of development.

The profile of Center Parcs is upmarket.

They have a great following and essentially where they go, people follow,’ he said.
