JON COOTE ran another strong race last weekend, storming through to win the third of the Graeme Le Maistre cross-country series at Mielle de Morville.

There was a good turnout for the run over a difficult course that included four steep hills.

Last week’s winner, under-17 Toby Edwards, finished an excellent fourth, just ahead of René Raimondo and fellow U17 Tom Brown.

Jo McGarry won the women’s race and finished seventh overall.

‘Jon was very strong, and Toby and Tom both ran really well,’ McGarry said.

‘They both ran in the adult race and the terrain was very tough.

And René Raimondo had a good finish, too; he’s fairly new to this and running well at the moment.’ In the women’s race Amanda Brown finished second ahead of Carol Knight and Kerry Petulla.

‘Amanda and Kerry will both be running in Hampshire,’ McGarry said.

She wasn’t overly impressed with her own performance, as she returns from injury.

‘It was a rather slower time than I’d have liked ahead of Hampshire,’ she admitted.

Jersey Spartan AC’s next race is the 10k fancy dress handicap race on Boxing Day, from the FB Fields, starting at 9.30 am.
