JERSEY Netball Association’s J-Academy players are to get some professional advice on Friday evening.

Island netball development officer Linda Andrews’ talented squad are to have a session with physiologist and performance coach David Sutton, at St George’s Preparatory School hall.

Sutton, a former international basketball player, is a consultant physiologist whose career highlights include working with Superbike racer Maria Costello (the first female to gain a podium finish at the Isle of Man TT), the Great Britain Windsurfing squad at the World Championships 2004 in Poland and being strength and conditioning coach to GB professional windsurfer Xavier Ferlet.

Sutton has also worked with Middlesbrough and Northampton Town football clubs together with helping with specific training for a number of other national and international athletes including taekwondo, golf and gymnastics.

Andrews said: ‘David’s cv is impressive and I’m looking forward to the session he will be having with our young players.

‘I’m sure it will be a learning experience both for me and the squad.

It all sounds very interesting and I can’t wait to see how things are put into practice.’ Tomorrow’s two-hour session at St George’s School starts at 6 pm.
