Thursday 29th December 2005, 12:00AM GMT.

A FEMALE hospital patient who was on home leave died yesterday after falling from Patriotic Street multi-storey car park.

The 35-year-old woman, who is believed to have fallen from the top storey, was rushed to the Accident and Emergency department by ambulance paramedics who were called to the scene by a member of the public.

She was pronounced dead there at 6.19 pm.

This morning, Health and Social Services chief executive Mike Pollard said that they would be undertaking a ‘serious untoward incident review’ to examine the course of events and to determine whether, in the light of the tragic event, lessons could be learned.

He said that the patient, who will not be named until all relatives have been informed, had been on home leave as part of her programme of care and rehabilitation.

‘I wish to express my sympathy towards her family in their very sad loss,’ he said.
