Nursing charity denies unfair dismissal claim
Monday 9th January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
THE former information governance officer for Family Nursing and Home Care was accused of mishandling sensitive medical data during her unfair dismissal case this morning.
Christine Brennan says she was wrongly fired by FNHC, and is appealing against her dismissal and claiming breach of contract at an Employment Tribunal hearing.
It emerged during the hearing that both she and former Centenier Dominic Egré are the subject of police investigations.
Mr Egré has been summoned as a witness to the hearing by the tribunal.
The tribunal heard that he has been suspended from his job as data protection officer for Health and Social Services for alleged e-mail fraud.
He had been due to start work at FHNC as Mrs Brennan’s boss.
The evidence was interrupted briefly this morning when chairman Nicola Santos-Costa warned both sides: ‘We are dealing with people’s real lives.
This is not a soap opera.’ FNHC say Mrs Brennan mishandled the most sensitive medical data, put the reputation of the charity at risk and held information outside the correct area.
