Shopkeeper tells of his moment of terror
Tuesday 10th January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
THE shopkeeper who was slashed across the face during an armed robbery on Sunday has described the terrifying moment a knife-wielding youth demanded money from his till.
Reliving his attack at Tickner’s Corner Store, St Mark’s Road, Daniel Oliveira said the youth bought a packet of sweets before producing a butcher’s-style knife and demanding money from the till.
After cutting him across the face and hands, the 53-year-old claims the youth tried to stab him in the stomach.
‘He went for my stomach area, but I managed to jump out of the way just in time.
It was terrifying – I didn’t know when it was going to end.’ Three men have been arrested and are in police custody in connection with the attack.
They are aged 41, 32 and 19 and police were questioning them this morning.
It is believed all three have a connection to the incident.
