Former pro goes for Island football manager’s job

Wednesday 11th January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.

THE fourth candidate seeking the Jersey Football Association team manager’s position is believed to be a former Birmingham City professional.

JFA president Charlie Tostevin confirmed today that the only unnamed candidate chasing the senior Island and under-21 managerial positions lives in the UK and that, because it’s an unpaid position, it is unlikely that he, a former second-string player at St Andrew’s, will be interested.

Tostevin said: ‘We are currently working very hard behind the scenes to get an interview date sorted.

One of the three Jersey-based candidates is out of the Island this week because of work commitments so hopefully they will be held sometime next week.

‘An outsider has also applied for the position; we will discuss his situation too but I feel it is highly unlikely that he will be interested as it is an upaid role.’ Chasing the Island manager’s position are former Island manager Peter Vincenti, Trinity’s joint-manager Joe Morley and St Paul’s manager Tony Hoyland.
