WOMEN in Jersey are being called on to support the fight against cancer by taking part in the annual Race for Life – the tenth to be held in the Island.

They will join thousands across Britain who will be running, jogging or walking a 5km distance at different events organised by Cancer Research UK this summer.

The Jersey event will be held on Sunday 14 May and the money raised will be added to the £375,000 total raised so far in past years.

The Island is one of 230 venues that hosts the women-only race, many taking part after recovering from cancer themselves, or in memory or celebration of loved ones.

The runs will be held from 3 May to the end of July and organisers are hoping that 750,000 women will take part and help raise around £46 million for cancer research.

Jersey’s race organiser, Mark Raisbeck, is calling on everyone to get involved and help Race for Life beat this year’s target.
