St Ouen open five-point lead

ST OUEN won their game in hand in Coca-Cola Combination Division II to open up a five-point lead at the top of the table.

Dean Moss netted on his début in a 5-1 victory at the FB Fields against Beeches Old Boys, early season leaders who slipped to their fifth consecutive defeat.

Jon Evans, Rob Moore, Shane Carré and Rob Sanford hit St Ouen’s other goals with veteran Pete Le Cuirot replying for the Old Boys.

First Tower, from a game played more, returned to the top of Division I Reserves after they won 3-1 against St Paul’s at St Saviour.

Simon Lester scored direct from a corner for Tower whose other goals were by Eddie Vautier and Adam Speight.

David Toner scored for bottom-placed Saints.

Trinity moved up one place to third after Graham Ling and Steve McCarter scored their goals in a 2-0 win against Rozel Rovers at Le Couvent.

McCarter returned to football last weekend after recovering from a serious facial injury received in a Division I match last August.

Jersey Scottish romped to an 11-1 win against Jersey Wanderers at Les Quennevais.

Tom Carola hit Wanderers’ consolation to Scottish goals from Paul Crompton (three), Chris McNabb (three), Paul Duxbury, Peter Rigby, Alan Murray, James Scott and Reuben Legge.

Callum Duffy scored the only goal at St Clement to secure Magpies a 1-0 win and top spot in Division II Reserves.

Previous leaders St Brelade, who are now a point behind, were beaten 3-0 by Sporting Academics at Les Quennevais where Ryan Ennis notched a brace and Phil Helleur a single.

The Portuguese Club missed taking top spot on goal difference after they were pegged back to three-all after leading 3-0 away to St John.

On the mark were Tom O’Hara, Matt Cornick and Gregor Wake for the hosts and Carlos Ferreira (two) and Alex Pinto for the visitors.

Fifth-placed Jersey Nomads are just four points away from top spot after Chris Gallagher and Chris Duhamel both scored twice in a 5-3 win at St Lawrence.

Nomads’ other goal was by Jon Leonard.

St Martin/SCF made it five away matches unbeaten following a 2-1 success at the FB Fields against Beeches Old Boys.

Danny Harris and Pascal Corcoran netted for the visitors and Mark Happer for the hosts.

Grouville continued their march towards the Division C title with John Kiersey (two), Paul Cilia, Tom Perchard and Karl Stoodley on target in a 5-0 win away to Jersey Wanderers at the Hockey Club.

St Ouen moved into second place, nine points adrift, after winning 7-0 at home against St Clement.

Charlie du Feu hit a hat-trick, Matt Holcroft a pair and Stuart Walker and Phil Faulkner singles.
