6-0 win keeps Tower in touch with St John

Tuesday 17th January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.

COCA-Cola Ladies division leaders St John maintained their three-point lead at the top of the table without kicking a ball on Sunday.

Scheduled opponents St Paul’s were unable to raise a side because of illness and unavailability leaving St John’s 100 per cent record intact after ten games.

First Tower kept up their challenge following a 6-0 win at Le Boulivot against Grouville, where Louise Van Der Vliet hit a hat-trick for the winners, Sarah Bland a brace and Lisa McLaughlin a single.

Lesley Noel and Katie Ridley turned in strong performances in Grouville’s defence while goalkeeper Sarah Le Mière was taken by ambulance to hospital where she had four stitches in a cut on her chin.

Jo Fuller (two), Gemma Dunning, Kate da Silva, Lisa Godinho and Sue Stewart scored in St Peter’s 6-1 home win against Jersey Wanderers.

Good early pressure resulted in Dunning firing home from close range after good work by Stewart on the right.

Da Silva made it 2-0 following a fine run and impressive finish.

Wanderers pulled a goal back and shortly after half time St Peter’s defence had to be resolute to prevent them from equalising.

St Peter weathered the storm and Fuller drove home their third from distance.

Late on Godinho, Fuller and Stewart added further goals to complete the scoring.

Lisa Feighan and Ushi Neubert were on target for St Clement and St Brelade respectively in a 1-1 draw at St Clement.
