Russell strikes lift Saints up to fourth
Tuesday 17th January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
ST BRELADE moved up two places to fourth in Under-18 Division I following a 4-2 home victory against First Tower on Sunday morning.
Martin Mundy’s side owed their success to striker Adam Russell as he hit a hat-trick with Will Golder getting the other.
Mundy, who officiated in the absence of an appointed referee, said: ‘I think St Brelade shaded chances and possession; it was a good game and both teams played with a lot of spirit.
‘It’s difficult being a club official and refereeing but I don’t think there can be any complaints as Adam scored two fantastic goals from outside the penalty area while completing his hat-trick scoring direct from a corner kick.’ Tower’s consolations were netted by Adam Speight and Adrian Carr.
The race for the Under-16 Division I Ken Le Brun Trophy is hotting up.
