Census is put back to 2011
Thursday 19th January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
PLANS to hold a census in Jersey this year have been pushed back to 2011.
States Members agreed yesterday by 37 votes to 13 that a 2011 census would be better value for money and would provide more relevant information than one held this year or in 2007.
In doing so, they went back on their decision in July of last year to hold the census in 2006.
The request from Policy and Resources for last year’s decision to be rescinded came about after the statistics unit said that they would be unable to hold a census until spring 2007.
