Dad, I’ve won!

FATHERS don’t always react kindly to their sons waking them up at 4.30 in the morning after a few drinks.

But John O’Keeffe, the licensee at the Bridge Bar, could not have been happier to get the call from his son and famous actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers early on Wednesday morning.

Jonathan, whose brothers – Jamie, Ali and Paul O’Keeffe – front local band Suzy’s Field, was ringing to celebrate his win at the prestigious Golden Globe television awards with his family in Jersey.

The three brothers had stayed awake to watch the ceremony in Beverly Hills which celebrates excellence in television and film.

‘I was absolutely delighted,’ said Mr O’Keeffe senior.

‘He rang me from the awards at around 4.30 in the morning.’
