El Tico to make way for new café and flats?

Saturday 21st January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.

PLANS to demolish El Tico Café and construct a new two-storey building with a café and three flats above have been submitted to Planning.

Deputy John Le Fondré, the owner of the Five Mile Road café, has applied to demolish the existing building and rebuild it with a manager’s flat and two self-catering units on the first floor.

He wants to improve beach access from El Tico and retain an ice cream kiosk, and redesign the café in ‘linear diner’ style, according to Planning.

The plans are not likely to be considered for eight weeks.
