St Brelade’s first ever top flight win drags St Paul’s into the mire

ST BRELADE gave their survival hopes a massive boost on Saturday following a 4-0 victory away to struggling St Paul’s.
The parish club’s first ever Division I win moves them level with St Paul’s on points but trailing them in the second relegation place on goal-difference.
Jason Reynolds scored a brace and Jack Crawford and Ollie Nightingale singles for the winners at St Saviour.
Grouville won their sixth league match in nine this season to consolidate fourth place.
The parish side returned from La Hague Manor with maximum points following a 4-1 victory.
Toni Cardoso and Peter Hall hit doubles for the visitors with Bradley Russell on target for the hosts.
St Ouen maintained their five-point lead at the top of Division II after the leading trio all won.
St Ouen defeated previously fourth-placed Sporting Academics 5-2 at Les Quennevais following doubles by Scott Quarrell and Jon Evans and Scott Samson’s single.
Juniors Sean Doran and Jamie Savory notched for Accies.
Joint second-placed Magpies and Jersey Nomads both won 2-1, the ‘Pies against St Lawrence at the Airport and Nomads against St John at Les Quennevais.
Manny Fernandes and Steve Cumming were on target for Magpies and Carl Winn and Adam Budworth for St John.
Kevin Kennedy scored for St Lawrence.
Portuguese Club moved up one place to fourth, three points behind joint second place, after two goals by José-Manuel Vieira and one from Freddie Mendes helped them defeat Beeches Old Boys 3-0 at the FB Fields.
Matt Scriven was on target for St Clement in their 1-1 draw away to St Martin/SCF.
St Peter returned to the top of Division I Reserves, First Tower were without a game, after they toppled Jersey Wanderers 4-0 at St Peter.
Marcus Bayley scored twice and Lee Turner and junior Ryan Le Cornu once each for the victors.
Grouville’s match at Le Boulivot was abandoned following a brawl after 50 minutes.
The hosts were leading 1-0 after Darren Quintal’s goal when fighting broke out as Grouville’s Mark Grenyer and Trinity’s Stephen Jones were being sent off for second yellow cards (see page 3).
The Combination will decide what action to take re the match result while both club’s have been reported to the Jersey Football Association’s disciplinary committee by match official Neil Giannoni.
Goals from Paul Crompton, Alun Thorne and Alan Murray took Jersey Scottish to a 3-0 win against St Paul’s at Les Quennevais.
Nelio Maroté bagged four of Grouville’s goals in a 5-0 Division C win against Sporting Academics at the FB Fields.
Simon Stratford hit the other for the divisional leaders.
St Brelade and St Clement featured in a 2-2 draw at St Brelade after Alan Finlay and Tim Geall netted for the hosts and Dave Melton and Jason Kelly for the visitors.
