New life for El Tico

CORNFLOWER blue walls could be a thing of the past on the Five Mile Road if El Tico is demolished and replaced by a two-storey building.
Owner Deputy John Le Fondré, whose idea it was to paint the café blue, says that El Tico will keep the same name and branding if plans are approved to demolish the building and replace it with a ‘linear diner’ café and manager’s flat with two self-catering units on the first floor.
El Tico has been in the family’s ownership since the 1950s, and Mr Le Fondré said that they had put in plans to replace it because the fabric of the building was showing its age.
