£27,000 price tag for ministerial rooms and phones
Tuesday 31st January 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
TAXPAYERS are spending £27,000 on refurbishing the Council of Ministers meeting rooms and equipping the ten ministers with new mobile phones.
Every minister will receive a £520 phone to keep up with e-mails and diaries.
The phones will be replaced every three years.
Chief Minister Frank Walker told the House today that the ministers were being provided with the phones and that £20,000 was being spent on refurbishing the ninth floor of Cyril Le Marquand House where the Council of Ministers will meet.
He added that all but one or two of the ministers had taken an office in their departments.
The budget for the Cyril Le Marquand House refurbishment covers 20 chairs for the meeting room and the phones will cost £1,000 in support charges every year.
