Tourism to get a kick out of karate

JERSEY has beaten Las Vegas and Long Beach in California to host a major world sporting event.
In April 2008 the Island will host the World Kenpo Karate Championships, which promises to be the largest sporting event ever held in Jersey.
With at least 2,250 competitors and hundreds more supporters and spectators travelling from all over the world, the host club, the Jersey Kenpo Karate Association, say the four-day event will be bigger than when Jersey hosted the Island Games in 1997.
The event also promises to get the 2008 tourism season off to a positive start.
