Thousands hit as internet link goes down
Tuesday 28th February 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
THOUSANDS of Islanders were left without access to the internet and e-mail this morning when the main Jersey Telecom connection to the outside world went down.
An internal power failure at the central exchange at Minden Place was the cause of the loss of the premium broadband ADSL internet and e-mail router for just under an hour.
Companies across the Island that rely on the internet and e-mail were unable to do business after the power failure at 11 am.
However, access was being restored just before midday.
