IoD questions official stand on fulfilment

BUSINESS leaders have raised a question mark over Economic Development’s decision to scale back the fulfilment industry.
The Institute of Directors in Jersey has this week issued a manifesto setting out the priorities it believes the States should be tackling in 2006.
One of these is ‘to create conditions conducive to economic growth’.
Within that framework, the IoD says the States should definitely support Island-based fulfilment firms which export low-value items, such as CDs and DVDs, contact lenses, computer games, flowers and gifts to UK mail order or internet customers.
The IoD also says that the Regulation of Undertakings policy ‘must be abandoned’.
