New States tug in trouble
Thursday 2nd March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
THE new £2.2 million States tug Duke of Normandy scraped an unidentified object yesterday during a trip to Les Minquiers for engineers to build the base of a buoy on a very low tide.
This morning divers were inspecting the vessel, which was not holed in the incident, at its berth at Albert Pier.
Asst Harbourmaster Peter Moore said that work was taking place on Le Cocq Beacon on the east side of Les Minquiers Reef.
The work can only take place on extremely low tides when rocks and the buoy were uncovered.
