Snow and ice cause crashes and delays
Thursday 2nd March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
SNOW caused traffic chaos during the rush hour this morning with long jams and minor accidents.
By 10 am the police had been called to 16 traffic accidents caused by icy road surfaces.
No one was injured.
There was also confusion on the buses, with Connex cancelling the majority of its services, but Tantivy managing to run the school bus service.
With more wintry showers likely into the weekend, motorists are advised to keep a close eye on the forecast and to consider delaying journeys or walking to work to avoid the gridlock experienced on numerous routes today.
