Acorn Finance takes top enterprise honour

THE pillars of Jersey’s economy – finance, tourism, technology and agriculture – were all celebrated last night at the annual Jersey Awards for Enterprise 2005.

The presentations at the Hotel de France, this year on the theme of creativity, were attended by nearly 500 sponsors, winners, guests, politicians and dignitaries.

The top honours, the Jersey Post Award for Enterprise, was won by Acorn Finance for building their strong brand within two years.

Software specialists Cronus Consultancy, now the Island’s largest independent software company, won the Jersey Telecom Small Business Award.

Wine specialists Eric and Julie Rombaut were named Indigo Lighthouse Group entrepreneurs of the year for their firm French Imports.

The training in business award, sponsored by Equity Trust, went to Jersey Dairy for their efforts to improve the knowledge and competence of staff.

And the Jersey Seaside Festival were named as champions of Jersey Tourism for organising the August Havre des Pas celebrations, which were so successful that they are taking place again this year.
