Cheaper homes on the way?

BUYING a home could become cheaper and easier under plans to introduce shared-equity ownership to Jersey.
Chief Minister Frank Walker, Housing Minister Terry Le Main and Environment Minister Freddie Cohen have formed a group to investigate increasing home ownership by introducing shared equity, which would split the burden of buying a home between families and the States or banks.
They will also look at extending the recent Le Marais scheme, which has allowed some housing tenants to buy the homes they have lived in for years.
