The keys to victory

PIANIST Edward Bailhache is this year’s PwC Jersey Young Musician of the Year.

The 15-year-old Victoria College student triumphed over flautist Jenna Smart (16), trombonist Thomas Bailey (18), percussionist Jacob James (16) and violinist Naomi Matthews (17) in a closely fought final at the Arts Centre last night.

Edward, the son of the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, and Lady Bailhache, studied piano with Catriona Ellery and latterly Christopher George, who won the event in 1998.

He passed his grade 8 exam two years ago and is currently studying for a diploma in piano performance.
