Police death crash driver in court

THE States police officer who was involved in a crash on St Clement’s coast road last August which resulted in the death of Debbie Gardiner appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning charged with careless driving.

The dead woman’s husband David shouted ‘killer’ in the direction of P sgt Mark Hafey as the officer left the courtroom flanked by colleagues in plain clothes.

The area outside the courtroom was busy when Mr Gardiner shouted, and it could be clearly heard by a number of witnesses.

St Clement Centenier Maurice Etienne called the case against Hafey (31), who lives at Rue de Causie, St Clement, at about 10.20 am.
