Deadline looms for Emeraude
Wednesday 8th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
FERRY company Emeraude has two days to say if it will return to the Jersey to St Malo route.
If the deadline is not met, it risks losing allocated docking times.
Economic Development Minister Philip Ozouf is talking tough after the French owners of Emeraude failed to meet an end-of-February deadline to let the Minister know their intentions for this year.
It is believed that the board of Sogestran – which has owned Emeraude for nearly three years – intends to ask for the right to be the sole operator on the St Malo route during the winter months.
At present, though, the company is believed not to have a suitable vessel to operate a service.
