Call for reopening of murder case
Saturday 11th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
A FORMER detective is calling for the reopening of an unsolved murder case in which a Finnish au pair was brutally beaten to death in 1966.
David Watkins, who was a detective constable at the time, fears there is a chance the killer could still be living in the Island.
Tuula Hoeoek’s battered body was discovered in a field in St Clement not far from Clos de Roncier, on New Year’s Eve.
The 20-year-old’s head had been smashed to a pulp with a blunt object, possibly a car jack.
Mr Watkins, now a private investigator, has written to the States police chief, Graham Power, asking him to reopen the case.
