Passengers up on St Malo route
Saturday 11th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
A PRICE war between ferry companies on the St Malo route has led to an increase in passenger movements to and from the Island.
Figures released by Jersey Harbours show that the number of passengers coming in and out of Jersey by sea in 2005 rose by 3.9 per cent, compared to the previous year.
However, numbers travelling to and from the UK dropped by nearly five per cent.
Economic Development Minister Philip Ozouf said that it was evident that competitive pricing between the two companies contributed to the growth in passenger numbers on the St Malo route.
