Union seeks meeting over harbours plan
Saturday 11th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
THE trade union which represents 48 Jersey Harbours workers opposed to being transferred to another States department wants to meet politicians to express concerns about the proposed changes.
The workers are not happy about being transferred to Transport and Technical Services.
They fear that if Jersey Harbours becomes an incorporated business in the future they could be out of a job.
But the union was told on Thursday that if Jersey Harbours is incorporated, any decision on whether its engineering services should be privatised will be made by the Council of Ministers.
