Suspended jail term for drug money conspirator
Monday 13th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
A WOMAN who banked bundle after bundle of £20 and £50 notes her butcher husband made by smuggling drugs in meat consignments was resentenced today.
Yvonne Edmond-O’Brien appeared before the Court of Appeal and was given a two-year suspended jail term.
She will also lose everything, including her home and all the money she has, under a confiscation order totalling more than £500,000.
The court took just five minutes to announce its intention not to jail her, after admitting it was a ‘very difficult and unusual’ case.
A full explanation of the ruling will be given on Friday morning.
