Princess in the pink for a day

Tuesday 14th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.

A DREAM came true for three-year-old Honor Merchant on Saturday when she had a very special party.

When she was 18 months old Honor was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy – a heart condition – and is waiting for a transplant.

But thanks to the children’s charity Rays of Sunshine she was the star of the show at a princess party held in her honour at Caldwell Hall in St Clement.

Honor’s mother, Joanne, wrote to Rays of Sunshine to say that her daughter was a gorgeous child who took all her trials and hospital visits in her stride.

The 11 friends who came to the party had pink princess costumes for the special occasion, and Honor was dressed in a Sleeping Beauty costume.
