Constable calls for States debate on composting
Wednesday 15th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
THE Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, says it is vital the issue of the siting of the new green composting plant and the type of operation used is debated by the States.
He said today that he was concerned that Transport Minister Guy de Faye told the House he would not be waiting for the findings of the second Scrutiny Panel review of the Solid Waste Strategy before beginning moves to set up the new enclosed compost scheme at La Collette.
Mr Crowcroft has now lodged a proposition calling on the States to agree that those steps should not be taken by Deputy de Faye until the issue has been debated and approved by the Assembly.
