Thursday 16th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
A LOCAL man in his 60s was arrested in 2004 on suspicion of the brutal murder of Finnish au pair Tuula Hoeoek 40 years ago, it was revealed today.
The States police have also disclosed that the same man, who would have been in his early 20s in 1966, was questioned in relation to the unsolved crime in 2003.
On both occasions, he was released without charge.
Miss Hoeoek’s body was found in a field not far from Clos de Roncier on New Year’s Eve in 1966.
The 20-year-old’s head had been battered to a pulp with a blunt object.
Detectives said this morning that they had received several calls since police chief Graham Power appealed for information in the Jersey Evening Post on Tuesday.
He confirmed that the killing remained the only unsolved murder in the Island.
