Urgent review of gun laws

THE Parish Constables have given their unconditional backing to a full review of Jersey’s gun laws.
It will consider which types of weapon can be legally held in the Island and may lead to some being banned.
Yesterday the JEP revealed that there are more than 11,000 weapons registered in the Island, including machine guns, and that people with criminal records had been allowed by parish Constables to assemble sizeable personal arsenals.
The States police have concerns that a Dunblane-type massacre could happen unless stricter controls are imposed.
