Jersey attempt to turn tables in netball inter-insular

Thursday 23rd March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.

JERSEY host Guernsey in the annual inter-insular netball matches this weekend.

Six games are to be played on Saturday at Fort Regent with the remaining two taking place at the same venue on Sunday morning.

Jersey will be looking to avenge defeats in the senior A and B team games last year.

Island coach Linda Andrews said: ‘Training has been intense and all the girls have committed themselves totally to the weekly sessions we’ve put on.

We are fully-prepared and determined to right the results from last year.

‘All our teams are in great shape and focused to deliver on the day.

The U18s are a strong group, many of them also have the experience of having travelled away with the senior Island squad as well as playing regularly with J United.

‘The over-35s have a great mix of experience and with many players moving into the age group from the B squad they know exactly what to expect.

It was a great game last year with Jersey winning by just one goal.’ Play starts on Saturday with the under-18s at 9.30 am.

Other games are, U12 (11 am); senior B (12 noon); U13 (1.30 pm); Over-35 (2.30 pm) and senior A (4 pm).
