JERSEY’S David Le Quesne and Richard Benest were unable to rescue their position on the final day of the full bore shooting qualification competition.

And according to their team manager Cliff Mallet, they were always playing catch-up from a disappointing first day.

Catch-up Both shooters managed to climb two places and after all three stages, Le Quesne finished in 22nd and .

Afterwards, Mallett said: ‘I don’t think any of us are particularly pleased with the results.

The lads were always playing catch-up from a poor first day and it was always going to be difficult to achieve anything after that.

‘There was no particular reason why they went behind at the beginning, it was just one of those days unfortunately.’ Le Quesne shot a stage one of 33.02, 34.01 and 34.04, a stage two of 49.05, 49.06 and 49.05 and a stage three of 73.08 and 72.05, giving him a total of 393.36.

Benest shot a first stage of 33.03, 34.05 and 35.05, a second stage of 46.04, 49.04 and 49.07 and a third stage of 74.09 and 71,05, giving him a total of 391.42.

The top qualifier was Australia’s Bruce Scott, who finished all three stages with a total score of 403.60.
