No final flourish for Games shooters
Saturday 25th March 2006, 12:00AM GMT.
JERSEY’S final shooters to be taking part in the Commonwealth Games managed a top-half finish in the 25m pistol qualification, writes Carl Walker.
However David Ward and Marcus Hill were unable to qualify for this afternoon’s final after finishing in 14th and 16th respectively.
It means that no Jersey shooters has achieved a top-ten finish in any of their competitions in Melbourne.
In the 150 sec, Ward shot a 94 and 95, giving him a total of 189.
Hill shot a 90 and 97, leaving him with 187.
In the 20 sec burst, Ward shot 90 and 93, giving him a final score of 544, while Hill shot 89 and 91, giving him a total of 541.
The eventual winner was England’s Mick Gault, who had to go to a shoot-off with Pakistan’s Ali Irshad after both shot a total score of 568 points.
