Clipper skipper out
Monday 27th March 2006, 12:00AM BST.
THE Jersey Clipper has been hit with its biggest blow yet – as skipper Mark Taylor has resigned.
Just hours after a recharged fleet left the Philippines in fresh hope, frustration with race organisers has forced the skipper out.
Despite a month of repairs to the ten Clipper yachts, Jersey set off on Saturday without working wind instruments and vital programmes to receive weather information.
Mr Taylor was unhappy with the rigging set up, and having been given only two hours to test the boat – he believed it was safe, but not race ready – he has had enough.
