Communication in States ‘must be improved’

STATES Members from all sides of the ministerial divide say more needs to be done to improve communication between the Council of Ministers and their States colleagues.

While they have different views on the first three months of ministerial government, Chief Minister Frank Walker, Economic Scrutiny panel chairman Geoff Southern and Senator Len Norman all say that relationships between ministers and other States Members need to be improved.

Of the five States sittings that have been held this year, only two have lasted beyond lunchtime on the first day of debate and 33 propositions had been lodged by Friday afternoon, compared to 65 in 2005.
