Gun licence Constable called on to own up
Wednesday 29th March 2006, 12:00AM BST.
A CALL has been made for the parish Constable who granted a convicted criminal and drug dealer a gun licence to ‘own up’ and resign.
Senator Stuart Syvret made the call during a lively series of States questions prompted by the news revealed by the JEP last week that there are 10,000 licensed firearms in Jersey.
It is possible the Constable will be named.
The chairman of the Constables’ Committee, St Ouen Constable Ken Vibert, said he did not have the information but was prepared to carry out an investigation.
Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard admitted she was not told by the States police about the JEP story before it was published.
