Former FCJ pupil to make debut for Wigan Warriors

Friday 31st March 2006, 12:00AM BST.

FORMER FCJ Primary School pupil Eamon Connor (now O’Carroll) is to make his rugby league first-team début for Wigan Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

The former Jersey Rugby Club mini, now 18, has been called into Wigan’s first-team squad as a prop as seven senior players are unavailable for Sunday’s BBC 2 televised Powergen Challenge Cup fourth-round tie at Wakefield Trinity.

The two clubs, who have each won only one of their opening seven Super League matches, are separated by scoring difference, with Wigan occupying bottom spot.

O’Carroll, who lived in Jersey for six years between the ages of 5 and 11, changed his surname after returning to Manchester to live with his father.

Wigan coach Ian Millward said: ‘Eamon’s only 18 and it is probably a bit early for him but he is keen, so we’ll give him a chance.’
