Judges go in search of CI writing talent
Monday 3rd April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
THE third annual Jersey Arts Trust Channel Island Writers Competition is launched today with a higher prize fund and a chance to be involved in a new Literature Week in October.
The contest, which is run in association with the UK literary group Writers Inc, has gone from strength to strength since it was launched in 2004.
Last year it received more than 400 entries for the competition’s two categories, poetry and short story writing.
This year an extra £200 has been added to the prize fund, bringing it to £1,200, which is awarded to successful entrants at the discretion of the judges.
Also on offer is an opportunity to read at the Barbican in London and a bursary prize of a Writers Inc residential weekend.
Following a number of inquiries from potential entrants, a new category has been added for 2006 – stories for children.
