‘No phone masts near our children’
Tuesday 4th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
OVER 60 residents of St Brelade attended a meeting last night to discuss the siting of mobile phone masts in the area.
Don Farm resident Caroline Coote organised the meeting at Communicare, at which 65 people voiced their concerns about Cable and Wireless’s proposals to erect six antennae on the Western Fire Station tower.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Sean Power, a member of Environment Scrutiny, and attended by representatives of Cable and Wireless and Jersey Telecom, as well as politicians, including Education Minister Mike Vibert and St Brelade Deputy Peter Troy.
Mrs Coote said representatives from both companies answered questions put to them and heard that residents did not want masts sited close to residential areas.
‘Deputy Power said he would look into whether the issue was a suitable case for Scrutiny to examine,’ she said.
