Ministers consider phone mast safety

Wednesday 5th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.

THE issue of the safety of mobile phone masts will be taken to the Council of Ministers tomorrow by Education Minister Mike Vibert.

The Senator attended a public meeting on Monday evening called by Don Farm resident Caroline Coote who is concerned about plans by Cable and Wireless to erect six antennae on the Western Fire Station tower.

He said today he intended raising the matter with the Council of Ministers with the view to asking the Health and Planning Ministers to prepare reports on the matter.

‘This is an Islandwide issue and as the Council is the government’s executive body we should be kept informed of what is going on,’ he said.

The Senator said he had already spoken to Chief Minister Frank Walker who agreed that was the right thing to do.
